Lighting can’t be an afterthought anymore

Without intention, lighting isn’t designed - it’s just added.
I see it again and again: lighting pushed to the back end of a project, treated as something to resolve once plans are “done.” But by then, the opportunity is already gone.
Lighting needs to be part of the front-end conversation.
So the client understands it.
So the architect can implement it with clarity from the beginning.
When lighting is embedded early, it stops being a technical add-on and becomes part of the architecture itself - shaping how the home is actually lived in, not just how it looks on paper.
Actionable tip
Take a moment to look at a current project and ask:
What do I want this environment to be remembered for?
Not the fixtures.
Not the budget.
The experience.
Memorable spaces are designed around how people move, pause, gather, and unwind - and lighting is what quietly supports all of that. When you design for the environment, not just the plan, your work stands apart.
